🍋Lemon Drop🍋 Martinis

Nothing goes better with an overnite visit with my sister Dawn than Lemon Drop Martinis. With her living so far away, we have to cram in as much activity as possible in a limited amount of time. Over the years, some of the creative concoctions we've enjoyed while we reminisce are Green Apple Moscato Sangria, Whipped Cream Vodka Creamsicles, Long Island Tea and Knock You Naked Margaritas.

On our last trip to Alaska, Don whipped up a few Lemon Drop Martinis while she and I played Yahtzee, so I thought this would be a great one to experiment with. I LOVE all things lemon and it's her favorite adult beverage. (We play Yahztee online when she heads back home)
We did not rim the glass with lemon-sugar and we didn't drink out of fancy lemon-themed martini glasses like hers, but they were delicious! (Gotta cut back on sugar where you can)
After reviewing several recipes online along with the contents of the liquor cabinet, I decided to try the Lemon Drop Martini Cocktail posted by "Inspired Taste." It had the perfect tartness of the lemon along with the kiss of sweet like you get from a lemon drop.

INGREDIENTS:
2 oz. Lemon Vodka
3/4 oz. Triple Sec
1 ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice*
3/4 ounce simple syrup**
Crushed ice

Fill a martini shaker with cubed ice, double the ingredients for two. Shake until blended well and ice cold. Pour into a glass 1/2 filled with crushed ice.

*The lemons didn't yield as much juice as we thought they would and I had to substitute with a little refrigerated lemon juice.
**You can make a simple syrup by dissolving water and sugar one to one. (1 cup each)
